Catholic Falls to Scranton in the Landmark Conference Championships


SCRANTON, Pa. – The Catholic women's soccer team fell in the Landmark Conference Championship 1-0 on the road against the Scranton Royals.

In the previous matchup of these two squads on October 25, both teams were unable to score. 

During the first half, goalkeeper Ava Rieger made a pair of saves to help keep the Royals off the board despite 10 total shots from Scranton. 

In the second half, Scranton scored early. The Royals' Linda Daly scored in the 53rd minute from an assist from Jenna Borelli and Alexis Ocasio. Scranton continued the offensive pressure in the second half with nine shots.

Despite the Cardinals having nine shots in the second half, with three on goal, they were unable to convert, ultimately conceding to the Royals.

Senior Isabel Doherty was the lone Cardinal with shots on goal, chalking up all three on goal and four in total. Sophomore Caroline Aponte followed behind with two shots. Sara Greaser, Sam Cesario, and Payton Hardy each collected a shot apiece.

Senior Teighan Boyle enters the Catholic record books with 74 appearances. She ends her career tied for 12th in appearances.  

The Catholic women's soccer team finish the season 11-7-3 as the Landmark Conference Runner-Ups.
