Woodings Second Half Goal Leads Cardinals Past River Hawks

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic men's soccer team hosted Susquehanna University on Tuesday evening for their last home match of the regular season. The Cardinals notched their fifth consecutive win with a goal from Holden Woodings, defeating the River Hawks 1-0.

Catholic led the game offensively, outshooting Susquehanna 24-2 during the match. The Cardinals recorded 14 shots in the first half but were unable to get on the board. It wasn't until the 57th minute that Woodings found the back of the net, putting the Cardinals up 1-0 against the River Hawks. This marks Woodings' 24th goal of his career. He currently leads the squad with nine goals this season. Woodings' now sits at seventh in Division III program history in career goals and is now tied for 10th in DIII program history in career points with 51. 

Woodings and Carson Shamoo led the team with six shots apiece. The Cardinals also had 12 corner kicks, to the River Hawks two. Multiple Cardinals saw the full 90 minutes of today's match up: Goalkeeper Owen Allegro, Graham Leary, Ellington Andrews, Corey Magro, and Charlie Paparella.

Allegro notched his 11th career shutout with this victory over Susquehanna, his fourth of the season. He now sits at sixth in DIII program history in career shutouts. 

This win marks the Cardinal's eighth consecutive win against the River Hawks and brings them to 5-0-2 in Landmark Conference play.
