GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Catholic men's tennis team went back on the road for the final time in the fall season to take on Gettysburg on Saturday afternoon.
After dropping the first doubles match in the number one spot, the Cardinals bounced back by taking the number two and three matches to earn the doubles point.
Lorenzo Neri and
Ian Arenas picked up the first doubles win in the number two spot and
Jake Hershey and
Flynn Hollinger won in number three doubles. Both teams took a 4-1 lead early and fought off comebacks by the Bullets to win their sets 7-5 to give Catholic a 1-0 lead.
Neri picked up a victory in number one singles to earn the Cardinals their second point by scores of 6-0 and 6-3. Hershey picked up a key win for Catholic in the number four singles spot, going to the third set and winning it 6-1 to earn another point for the Cardinals to give them a commanding 3-0 lead.
James Earwood locked up the match by winning his singles match in the number two slot by scores of 6-2 and 6-3 to give Catholic the four points needed to win the match.
Diego Romo also earned a win in the number five spot by scores of 6-1 and 6-3 to give the Cardinals their final point in a 5-2 victory over the Bullets. The win improved Catholic to 5-1 in the fall season.
