The Cardinals Round Out Cardinal Weekend with a Win Against Drew

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Catholic men's soccer team collected a 3-0 shutout win against Drew on Cardinal Weekend.

The Cardinals struck early, scoring in the 12th minute. Seth Michalak earned his first goal of the game after weaving around his defenders. After creating space, he sent the ball to the back of the net, giving Catholic the 1-0 lead.

Catholic did not waste any time continuing its lead. Senior Holden Woodings worked down the field and shot the ball just out of reach of Drew goalkeeper Donovan Friedhoff to bring the Cardinal lead to 2-0. Woodings now has 8 goals in his senior season.

In the second minute of the second half, Michalak found his second goal of the game. Francesco Mattucci found teammate Woodings in the penalty box. Quickly, Woodings sent the ball to his left where Michalak collected the pass and sent the ball into the goal.

Catholic held its 3-0 lead for the rest of the match to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Goalkeeper Owen Allegro faced only one shot in today's match, which he saved convincingly.

Carson Shamoo, Woodings, and Michalak each collected 3 shots in today's matchup. Luke Lillis followed behind with 2 shots. Azaria Tewodros, Ellington Andrews, and Ben Zimmer each tallied a shot as well.

Woodings is currently leading the Landmark with 8 goals scored. With his double goal day, Michalak is now tied for third in goals scored at 5.
