Cardinals Nab 19th Spot in D3hoops Poll

WASHINGTON, D.C. - After bouncing back from a loss to third-ranked Scranton last Saturday with a pair of victories over Goucher and Wilkes, Catholic women's hoops has moved up a spot to 19th in the latest D3hoops.com poll. 

Boasting one of the best defenses statistically in the country, Catholic sits at 15-2 with eight contests remaining in the regular season. The Cardinals rank seventh nationally in field goal percentage defense, allowing their opponents to shoot just 30.9 percent from the field in 17 games. Catholic ranks 30th in Division III in scoring defense, allowing just 52.2 points per contest. 

Matt Donohue's team also ranks favorably in scoring margin, turnover margin, and steals per game. Scoring 76.0 points per game, Catholic ranks sixth in the nation in scoring margin, beating teams by an average of 23.8 points per game. Strong with the ball on the offensive end, the Cardinals also rank 15th in turnover margin, winning the battle by an average of eight per contest. 

An extremely well-rounded group, four Cardinals averaging between 10.1 and 14.8 points per game, led by Anna Scoblick. A 2023-24 all-american, Scoblick also contributes 6.6 rebounds per game while leading the team in assists (52), ranking fourth in steals (32), and second in blocks (13). Scoblick also leads the team, making 51.1 percent of her field goals. 

An All-Landmark First Team selection last season, Keegan Douglas is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.4 points per contest. She has knocked down 21 threes and is hitting 82 percent of her free throws while ranking third on the team in assists (37) and steals (33). 

Moving into the starting lineup for a few games recently, Amelia Kennedy has been on a torrid pace in her last seven games, shooting 67 percent from the field and scoring in double figures three times. Kennedy shoots 50.5 percent from the field while leading the team with 36 steals.
