ARLINGTON, Va. - Catholic (4-1-1) got off to an early start, getting a third minute goal before adding two more in the second half of a 3-0 victory at Marymount (Va.) (1-5-1) on Monday afternoon.
Isabel Doherty scored her first goal of the season and fifth of her career just 2:23 into the contest.
Sara Placide sent a corner in short, but it was turned back out towards the corner. Placide sent it in again and found Doherty for a header to put the Cardinals ahead 1-0.
Doherty had a crack at a second goal in the 23rd minute, getting a step on the right wing, but couldn't get enough power on it to beat Hannah Mockenhaupt.
In the 68th minute, the Cardinals added some insurance on a beautiful strike from Placide. As the ball settled at the top of the 18, Placide flicked it towards the far post with the outside of her right boot, beating the keeper for her second career goal.

Mattigan DiBease sent a second consecutive corner into the box, finding
Alex Berish who punched in her second goal of the season to extend the lead to 3-0.

Ava Rieger needed to make just one save, in the 89th minute, to preserve Catholic's fifth clean sheet in six games to start the season.

Kaitlyn Houri the lone field player to play the whole 90 minutes. DiBease played 33 minutes off the bench, the most of any Cardinal reserve, while
Kiera Price played 27 minutes.
The Cardinals host St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday evening in search of a fourth consecutive victory.
