SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The Catholic University women's tennis team defeated Shepherd 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals won the doubles point and took an early 1-0 lead.
Shloka Tambat and
Mairead O'Hara combined at number one doubles while
Samantha D'Addezio and
Ava Kaloustian played in the number two spot. Both pairings only allowed one game, giving Catholic a positive start.
Catholic then took six straight singles matches, including a few forfeit wins. The Cardinals did not allow their opponent to take more than three games in any match.
Ella Knox defeated her contender 6-2, 6-0 at number one singles.
Paige Brightwell also picked up a win by the same score in the number two spot.
Ava Niggemeier won 6-0, 6-1 at number three.
The win against Shepherd capped a sweep of this weekend's matches as the team took down Stevenson and Penn State Harrisburg yesterday.
Catholic will participate in ITA's next weekend from September 20-23. The Cardinals had six athletes selected to play across three doubles and three singles matches.
