Shepherdstown, W.Va. - The Catholic University men's tennis team defeated Shepherd 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams took the opening point with wins at number two and three doubles. The Cardinals bounced back with six straight singles wins to clinch the match.
Lorenzo Neri and
Diego Romo combined at the number one doubles spot. The duo found themselves down 1-2 early, but delivered a strong performance to ultimately win 6-3.
Romo continued his day with a convincing 6-0, 6-0 singles win at the number two spot to earn the first point for the Cardinals and bring the match back even.
Henry Ogden had another impressive day at the number four spot. He lost the first set 1-6 and was down 1-4 in the second, but was able to stay focused and execute a comeback. He won the second set 6-4 and clinched the match with a third-set victory.

Leyton Ramos-Platt and Neri also all took victories in competitive singles matches. Andrianopoulos was able to pull ahead down the stretch to win 6-3, 6-4. Neri's match came down to the wire as he forced a third set at the number one spot. Ramos-Platt finished the day by winning his second set and a third set tiebreak.
Catholic is now 3-0 to start the 2024 season after defeating Stevenson and Penn State Harrisburg yesterday.
The Cardinals will return to action in two weeks as they travel to participate in ITA's. The three-day event will run from September 28-30.
