Rutledge Promoted to Associate Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator

| By:
WASHINGTON, D.C.Now entering his fourth year with the Catholic football program, Jonathan Rutledge has been promoted to Offensive Coordinator it was announced by Mike Gutelius earlier this spring.

Rutledge spent the past few seasons as the Special Teams Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Catholic while also working with the team's wide receivers. Along with his promotion to OC, Rutledge has been named the program's Associate Head Coach as well.

"Coach Rutledge has been an irreplaceable part of my staff so I am extremely glad to have him add the role of Offensive Coordinator to his duties," said Gutelius. "Since the moment he joined us three years ago, I knew we had found a real steal of a coach."

While a member of the Cardinal coaching staff, Rutledge oversaw a strong special teams unit that ranked highly in Division III in multiple statistical categories, including kick return yards and net punting average. Malachi Hansen (All-Landmark Returner), Fabrizio Reilly (All-Landmark Kicker), and Connor Gill (Landmark Specialist of the Week) all earned conference honors under Rutledge's watch.

While working with the wide outs, Rutledge also played a role in the continued development of all-time Catholic standout Preston Jeffrey. Hansen and 2021 graduate Mark Cheffers each earned all-conference honors while Rutledge was on staff.

A Mississippi native, Rutledge has Division I experience, spending time at Nebraska, Auburn, Missouri, North Carolina, Memphis, and Ole Miss.

"His experience and Division I background helped bring a high level of professionalism to the whole staff," said Gutelius. "I consider myself lucky to call him one of my coaches and even more lucky to have him as a friend. His level-headed approach makes him the perfect candidate to be my Associate Head Coach as well. I can't wait to see how some of his ideas help make our offense feel fresh and even more explosive!"
