Baltimore, MD – The Catholic University women's tennis team dropped a mid-week contest against Goucher on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals secured a victory at No. 3 doubles for a final score of 1-8.
Jane Krukiel and
Marissa Stambaugh earned the lone point for the Cardinals. The duo grabbed an early lead and was up 6-1 before a medical timeout was called due to a fall. The veterans regrouped after dropping the next two games and ultimately won 8-3.
The No. 1 doubles pair of
Mairead O'Hara and
Ava Niggemeier were locked in a competitive match. They forced a tiebreak and evened the score at 5-5 before going down 7-8.
In singles competition, O'Hara was down 2-5 in the first set but won two games in a row to make it 4-5. Her opponent secure the game winner to end it 4-6. The second set was as equally competitive, yet ended with the same result.
The Cardinals next match will be on Saturday, April 20 against Lycoming. The home match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
