LEWISBURG, Pa. - Catholic sprinters
Jevontae Fearwell and
Sebastian Lopez both set new personal bests on a successful day at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Fearwell edged past his previous best time in the 100-meter dash, clocking a time of 10.70 on Sunday to remain second on Catholic's outdoor performance list. The junior continues to slightly shave time off his personal best mark, moving up from 10.73 seconds set at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. Fearwell also competed in the 200, placing 29th with a time of 22.24, just shy of his top time of 22.20.
Lopez jumped into third in Catholic history in the 100 with a new top time of 10.95 seconds on Sunday. Lopez placed 44th overall in the Division I heavy event, moving up from eighth to third on the all-time list. Lopez now sits behind only Fearwell and Clarence Musgrove as the three athletes in program history to run a sub-11 second 100. Lopez also set a personal best time of 22.57 in the 200, moving into eighth place all-time on the Cardinal list.
Chilowe Osai competed for Catholic as well, finishing 18th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.42 while clocking a time of 11.14 in the 100.
Ian Hopkins was set to compete in the 3,000 on Sunday evening, but the final three events of the night were canceled after a lightning delay.
