HUNTINGDON, Pa. — The Catholic University men's tennis team fell to Juniata on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals fought admirably with four would-be starters missing from the lineup for various reasons. Nate Farlow's bunch dropped three matches in decisive third sets as they fell short.
Catholic's No. 3 doubles duo of Ben Perks and Leyton Ramos-Platt came up with a big win, triumphing in a tiebreak. Ramos-Platt secured both of Catholic's victories on the day, coming through in another tiebreaker at No. 6 singles.
Diego Romo (No. 2), Ben Perks (No. 3) and Charlie Robbins (No. 4) all fell in three sets. Perks dropped the opening game in a tiebreak before fighting back to even the match at 1-1. He fell just short in the final set, losing by a break while Robbins won the opening set 6-3 before dropping each of the next two by a break.
Now at 11-6 overall and 3-2 in conference play, the Cardinals return home to battle Susquehanna in another important Landmark Conference contest. Opening service at the Dowd Family Tennis Courts is set for tomorrow at 1 p.m.
