HILTON HEAD, S.C. -
Meaghan Laniewski and
Mairead O'Hara earned singles victories and No. 3 doubles earned a convincing win, but Catholic women's tennis fell 6-3 to Webster, closing out its spring trip to Hilton Head.
Laniewski was in command at No. 2 singles, defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-4 to keep Catholic right in the match as they trailed 3-2 upon its conclusion. O'Hara earned a victory in maybe the most competitive match of the day, winning a first set to tiebreaker to eventually win 7-6, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
The Cardinals started the day with a 1-0 lead as No. 3 doubles dominated with
Jane Krukiel and
Marissa Stambaugh winning for the second consecutive day. They were in full control, winning 8-2 to put the first point of the day on the board.
Catholic dropped an extremely tight contest at No. 2 doubles with Laniewski and
Paige Brightwell giving it their all, but fallnig 8-6.
Ava Kaloustian bumped into the lineup at No. 6 singles and played an extremely competitive match, forcing a tiebreaker in the first set before ultimately succumbing.
Catholic will return home and enjoy a week to prepare for Scranton on March 23.
