Catholic Drops Road Matchup With No. 8 Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, Va. - Catholic women's lacrosse once again battled a top 10 team in Division III women's lacrosse as they traveled down to Virginia to take on No. 8 Washington & Lee. The Cardinals fell at the hands of the Generals by a score of 17-3.

Caroline Regan scored her first goal of the 2024 season while freshmen Ellie Verrill and Maggie Traynor each deposited a ball into the net for Catholic. All three goals were assisted as Mattea Del Peschio notched a pair of assists while Riley Martin added the third.

Defensively, Lauren Davidson made nine saves in the cage for Catholic, giving her six or more saves in every game this season while playing every minute in between the pipes. Davidson has now recorded eight or more saves in three contests this season. Rachel Rubenstein led Catholic with three ground balls while freshman Caroline Gaines caused two turnovers.

Catholic scored one goal in each of the first three periods before the Generals held the Cardinals scoreless in the final quarter. Verrill's goal came first as she put in her second career goal off an assist from Martin. The goal made it 3-1 with just over eight minutes remaining in the first.

Traynor's fourth goal of the campaign came in the second quarter as she found the net with 7:00 to play in the first half. Regan's goal came in the middle of the third period and gives her seven goals for her career.

Catholic will open up Landmark Conference play next Saturday at Lycoming.
