Savannah Hensley scored for the second time in three games to lead Catholic (8-6-4, 4-3-2) to a 1-0 victory over Juniata (8-7-2, 2-6-1) on Senior Day on Saturday in D.C.
Hensley, one of eight seniors honored in the pregame ceremony, put home the game-winning goal in the 67th minute as Catholic finally found the back of the net after an early second-half barrage. Hensley found herself in the right place at the right time as
Katie Scully's cross bounced around off of a Juniata defender and the keeper before landing in a prime spot for Hensley to finish.Â
The Cardinals out shot Juniata 25-1 and 12-1 in shots on goal, putting consistent pressure on Julia Lane who made an impressive 10 saves in a losing record.
Maeve Graham played the full 90 in goal for Catholic, earning the win and a shutout in her first action of the season. The captain made a save on the only shot she faced in the win.Â
Teighan Boyle and
Alex Berish played the full 90 minutes for the Cardinals who started all eight seniors in the contest.Â
Isabel Doherty (4) and
Katarina Bauer (2) combined for half of Catholic's shots on goal in the contest.Â
Catholic earns the fifth seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs and will head to Madison, N.J. on Tuesday to take on fourth-seeded Drew at 7 p.m.Â
