WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic volleyball team hosted a tri-match on Saturday in which the team was swept in both matches against Susquehanna and Christopher Newport. The results dropped the Cardinals to 13-16 on the season.
MATCH ONE - Susquehanna 3, Catholic 0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16)
The River Hawks picked up a key conference win over the Cardinals in straight sets while hitting .303, including hitting .444 in the third set to close out the win.Â
Julia Raab led the way in kills for the Cardinals with 11 followed by
Grace Guerin with eight and Erin Faughan with five.Â
Guerin also added four blocks while Ava Brocky picked up three.
Molly Farrell led the way in assists for the first time this season with 15 and
Gaby Hernandez-Ferraiuoli.
MATCH TWO - Christopher Newport 3, Catholic 0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-22)
The Captains finished off a 2-0 day with a 3-0 sweep over the Cardinals which dropped Catholic to 8-5 at home on the season.Â
CNU picked up 38 kills to Catholic's 23 to help them pick up the victory. Borcky and
Laci Freitas led the way in kills with six apiece followed by Faughnan who had five.
Anna Maria Carella was the leader in assists with 12 and Hernandez-Ferraiuoli led the way in digs with 14.
Maria Carella finished with a double-double as she added on 11 digs in the match.
The Cardinals will continue their Landmark schedule on Friday, November 1 when they travel to Moravian. The match is set to start at 7 pm on Friday night.
