TOWSON, Md. - Thanks to a massive defensive performance in a 14-12 victory at Lycoming on Saturday, Catholic's
Sean Holt was named Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career. This marks the first weekly conference award for Catholic this season!
A steady presence in the backfield, Holt finished the contest with seven tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, and 2.5 sacks while also forcing a fumble in the victory for Catholic. The 6-5 junior set career-highs across the board as he continues to grow into his role on the defensive line. In his last three games, Holt has 6.0 TFL's and 4.0 sacks to go along with 11 tackles.Â
After two tackles in the first half of the game, Holt went to work in the second half with the Cardinals holding a 14-6 lead. On Lycoming's second drive of the third, Holt combined with
Luke Testa to drag down Jay Huber on 3rd-and-7, forcing a 4th down for the Warriors. Later in the quarter, Holt beat his blocker on 1st-and-10, sacking Huber for a loss of seven yards and knocking the ball free.Â
Holt was involved yet again early in the fourth, sacking Huber on 4th-and-3 from the Catholic three-yard line, giving the ball back to the Cardinals. Holt would add two more fourth-quarter tackles, stuffing Terrence Oliver for a loss of two with just under four minutes left before adding another tackle of Oliver on Lycoming's final drive of the game.Â
Holt's honor gives Catholic its first Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week award since September 18, 2023 whn
Aidan Long received the nod.Â
The Cardinals will enjoy a bye week before welcoming Keystone College to D.C. on November 2 for a 12:00 p.m. kick.Â
