Tambat Continues Winning Ways, Cardinals Record First Loss of the Season

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Back at home for the first time in almost a month, Catholic women's tennis dropped its first contest of the fall season with a 1-6 loss against Dickinson on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Devils swept all three of the doubles matches to secure the opening point of the contest.

Shloka Tambat nabbed the only victory for the Cardinals as she kept to her winning ways on the singles court at No. 1. She allowed just two games, finishing with set scores of 6-0, 6-2.

At the No. 3 spot, Meaghan Laniewski played an impressive first two sets to force a third. After losing the first 4-6, she rallied to win the next 6-4, before dropping the third 0-6. Ava Kaloustian also found herself in a three set match, but was topped by her opponent 5-10 to end it.

Paige Brightwell slotted into the No. 5 spot and played a competitive match, but ultimately fell in both of her sets by a single break.

The Cardinals will return to the courts tomorrow as they host the Cardinal Invitational. Matches against Harford County Community College and Frostburg State will begin at 10 a.m.
