Woodings' Winner Extends Unbeaten Streak to Five Matches

MADISON, N.J. - The Catholic men's soccer team used an 80th minute winner off the boot of Holden Woodings to extend its unbeaten streak to five matches this afternoon. Catholic (5-5-2, 2-0-2) defeated Drew (7-5-2, 1-3-0) to get back to .500 for the season after a tough early-season slate.

Woodings, a transfer from UNC Greensboro in his first year as a Cardinal, has truly found his footing, following up a mid-week hat trick with a game-winner this afternoon. The junior out of Bethesda, Md. now has a team-high eight goals on the season and has five goals during Catholic's current unbeaten streak.

The tandem of Woodings and Hayden Lim is turning into quite the duo as Lim, another player who transferred into the program as a junior a year ago, added his fifth assist of the season on the winning goal.

In the 80th minute, Lim played a through ball to the top of the box, finding Woodings who one-timed it into the bottom left corner of the net.

Statistically, the match was as even as could be with Drew holding an 8-7 edge in shots with a 5-5 tie in shots on goal. Drew took two more corners in the match and fouls were even at 11-11.

Sophomore Owen Allegro earned the win and the clean sheet in net with five saves on Saturday. Last year's Landmark Rookie of the Year is now 5-3-2 on the season with three shutouts. He is 17-9-4 with five shutouts in 30 career games played.

Allegro was tested twice in the final 10 minutes of the contest, making saves in the 83rd and 90th minutes on shots from Kevin Martinez and Kevin Kiernan.

Catholic looks to stay hot as Elizabethtown comes to D.C. on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. contest.
