TOWSON, Md. - A dominant second-half showing for Catholic basketball sent the Cardinals to a 95-53 victory over the Goucher Gophers, marking the team's eighth-straight victory. 20th-ranked Catholic is now 14-2 on the season and 8-1 in Landmark Conference play as it heads into the second half of the conference season.
Enzo Sechi recorded his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds while
Brian Herbert logged his first of the year with 11 points and 13 boards to lead a balanced Catholic effort.
Tommy Kelly (14),
Jake Timby (13), and
Sean Neylon (11) also reached double digit points for the Cardinals.
Leading 52-39 with 12:54 remaining, Catholic flipped the switch and broke the game wide open. An 11-1 run with three-pointers from Neylon and
Jesse Hafemeister quickly pushed the lead above 20 with 10:46 to play. A three from Kelly just over a minute later made it 68-42, pushing the lead over 25 points for the first time.
That lead would only continue to grow, reaching 30 points with 7:02 remaining as Sechi knocked down a pair of free throws. A
Jake Melady three-pointer extended the lead to 40 with 1:49 to play as Catholic closed out a 95-53 victory. The Cardinals scored 57 points in the second half, including 41 points in the final 12:03.
Former Catholic assistant coach Justin Klingman's team played tough in the first half against
Aaron Kelly's side, trailing by just five points with 7:47 to go in the first. The Cardinals got hot, ripping off a 14-1 run over the next five-plus minutes to grow the lead to 18.

- With 95 points tonight, Catholic has scored at least 90 points in five different games this season. The Cardinals have scored at least 80 points in each game during its current eight-game winning streak.

- Tonight marked the first double-digit rebound game and double-double of the sophomore Herbert's career. An integral piece right from the start for Catholic, Herbert is averaging 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in 23.6 minutes per night.
- With 14 points tonight, Kelly went over 200 points for the season. He is just eight points shy of 900 points for his career and is averaging 12.9 points per game.
- Catholic shot 54.7 percent from the field as a team, the seventh time this season in which the team made 50 percent or more of its shots.
