Siok Headlines Six Women's Soccer All-Conference Honors

| By:
TOWSON, Md. — After a 12-win season and an appearance in the Landmark Conference Championship match, the Catholic University women's soccer team had six players named to the all-conference teams, the Landmark announced Wednesday.

Jordan Siok earned a spot on the the first team after her career year. The senior scored 15 goals, the second-most in the conference, including four braces and one hat trick. The 15 tallies more-than-doubled her career goal total entering the season, with five of her goals standing up as game-winners. She also provided three assists.

The Cardinal defensive duo of Sam Cesario and Ava Rieger were also selected to the first team.

After missing the first handful of matches due to injury, Rieger reestablished herself as the number one goalkeeper in mid-September, keeping a conference-high nine clean sheets. She was pivotal to the Cardinals only conceding six goals in conference play, making 42 saves and posting an impressive goals-against-average .72.

Cesario was a mainstay in the backline for Catholic this season, starting all 20 matches and leading the squad in minutes played. From her center back position, the sophomore led the Cardinals to 12 clean sheets over the 20 matches and ensured Catholic only conceded 17 goals, averaging less than a goal per match as a team. Cesario also scored one goal and provided one assist.

Cesario's center back partner also earned all-conference recognition. Teighan Boyle was named an honorable mention for her contributions to the defensive success.

The Cardinal midfield duo of Isabel Doherty and Payton Hardy were named to the second team.

Appearing in all 20 matches this season, Doherty scored three goals and provided three assists from an attacking midfield role. The sophomore improved as the season wore on, scoring and assisting in a 2-0 non-conference win over Mary Washington late in the regular season before scoring Catholic's most important goal of the season, the 95th minute winner of Drew in overtime of the Landmark Conference Semifinal.

Hardy earns well-deserved recognition for her contributions at the base of the Catholic midfield. The sophomore is one of three players to start all 20 matches, and playing in an often thankless role, was pivotal to the success of the Cardinals on both ends of the pitch. Hardy was adapt to winning virtually every high ball that came her way and was a warrior in a midfield that was often outnumbered as Catholic stuck with a 4-3-3 formation for the entirety season.

The six honorees are Catholic's most since 2015 and the most in head coach Casey Sommers' three years leading the program.
