Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Catholic University men's soccer team picked up its third straight win, defeating Moravian 4-0 on Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten in Landmark Conference play.
The Cardinals threatened in the first two minutes of the contest as Domenic Caltabiano forced a save from Andrew Remias 80 seconds into the contest.
Catholic struck for its lone first half goal in the 30th minute as Brian Murphy scored his first goal of the season. Ryan Kelly sent in a corner that pinged around the box before Murphy headed it home for a 1-0 Cardinal lead.
Travis Beauchamp's program opened the floodgates in the second half, getting the first of three goals in the 54th minute as Caltabiano corralled a deep ball, settled it, made a defender miss, and then slid the ball past the keeper to put Catholic ahead 2-0 with his sixth goal of the season.
In the 61st minute, the Cardinals added on to the lead as junior Gordie Bernlohr netted his 11th goal of the season. Bernlohr danced around a defender and sent it towards net, taking a carom off Remias' save attempt and into the net.
Freshman Diego Ortiz capped off the day with his first career goal in the 84th minute, scoring off a feed from Michael Cafiero to make it 4-0.
Catholic outshot the Greyhounds 15-3 in the contest. Senior Austin Coron was not challenged, but picks up his eighth win of the season. Bernlohr ties Darius Siahpoosh with his 11th goal of the season. The pair sit tied atop the Landmark Conference standings as well.
Catholic will bide its time until Saturday as it hosts Elizabethtown for the final game of the regular season and its Senior Day celebration.
