Women's Soccer Drops Conference Opener to Moravian, 1-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University women's soccer team opened up Landmark Conference play on Saturday as the Cardinals fell to Moravian, 1-0.

The Greyhounds (2-1-2, 1-0-0 LC) started the game quickly as the team converted on their lone corner kick of the half in the second minute. Anika Buzzy scored off a header on the back post for Moravian.

The Cardinals (3-4-1, 0-1-0 LC) took six shots in the first half, but Moravian goalkeeper Payce Korpics recorded four saves to blank Catholic in the period.

Freshman Maeve Graham recorded five saves to keep the Cardinals in the game. The team took six more shots and had three corner kick opportunities in the second half, but was unable to convert.  

Freshmen Katarina Bauer and Savannah Hensley each took a team high three shots, including Catholic's best chance in the 89th minute.

The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday when they hosts Bryn Mawr for the first time since 1989. Kickoff from Carlini Field is set for 7 p.m.
