Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University men's soccer team extended its conference unbeaten streak to 13 games with a 2-0 shutout victory over Moravian Saturday at Carlini Field.
The Cardinals (5-2-0, 1-0-0 LC) have posted a 12-0-1 record in their last 13 conference contests in the regular season dating back almost three years to a 2-1 win at Susquehanna on Oct. 6, 2018.
Catholic has also posted five consecutive shutouts in Landmark Conference games, lengthening its scoreless streak to 460:57 dating back to a 3-2 win versus Susquehanna on Oct. 12, 2019.
Neither team found the back of the next in the opening 45 minutes despite the Cardinals holding a 7-1 advantage in shots.
However, just over five minutes into the second half, sophomore Gordie Bernlohr scored his third goal of the season and first game-winning goal on a shot from the left side of the box that went into the upper right corner.
Bernlohr is the fifth different Cardinal to record a game-winning goal this year.
Catholic would add an insurance goal in the 88th minute when freshman Ryan Kelly scored the first goal of his young career on a strike from just outside the top of the box.
The Cardinals totaled eight more shots in the second half and outshot the Greyhounds in the game, 15-6.
Junior Austin Coron needed to make just one save to record his first career shutout and improve his record to 4-1 this season. His counterpart, Mason LeSage, finished with four saves.
Catholic begins a three-game road trip on Wednesday when it travels to St. Davids, Pa. to take on Eastern. Like the Cardinals, the Eagles advanced to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship in 2019, posting an 11-10-1 record, including a 3-2 loss to Catholic at Carlini Field.
