Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. - Catholic University men's soccer senior Paul Egan scored his first goal of the season in the 102nd minute to lift the Cardinals to a 2-1 victory over Stockton Sunday in the Cialella Soccer Classic hosted by Rutgers-Camden.
With the win, the Cardinals (3-1-0) are unbeaten in their last six regular-season overtime contests dating back to 2017.
Catholic finished the two-day tournament in third place behind champion Cortland and host Rutgers-Camden. Egan and junior Darius Siahpoosh were named to the all-tournament team.
Egan's goal was his first of the season and eighth of his career, including fourth game-winner. Sophomore Gordie Bernlohr picked up his first career assist on the play after he sent a cross into the box from the left.
With Catholic trailing 1-0 in the 88th minute, Bernlohr netted his second goal of the season on a scramble in the box off a penalty corner to tie the game at force overtime with just 2:47 remaining. He is now tied for the team lead with two goals and five points joining Siahpoosh.
After being held without a shot in the first half, Catholic outshot the Ospreys 10-3 over the final 56:29.
Junior Austin Coron made his second start this season and the second of his career, earning his second win with one second-half save.
The Cardinals begin a three-game homestand next Saturday, Sept. 18 when they host a non-conference contest with Stevenson at Carlini Field beginning at 11:30 a.m. Catholic has won four of the last five meetings against the Mustangs who posted a 14-7-3 record and advanced to the semifinals of the ECAC Division III Men's Soccer Championship in 2019.
