Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - Catholic University football junior Josh Webb totaled 11 tackles, including one for loss as the Cardinals fell on the road to No. 19 Randolph-Macon Saturday at Day Field, 62-10.
Catholic (1-1) totaled 324 yards of total offense, led by sophomore Madden Lowe who completed 33-of-44 passes for 285 yards and one touchdown.
Lowe led the Cardinals on two scoring drives, including a 5-play, 63-yard drive that was capped by a 17-yard touchdown pass to senior Preston Jeffrey that cut the Yellow Jackets' lead to 14-7 with 14:56 remaining in the second quarter.
Jeffrey finished with six catches for 52 yards and one touchdown. He was one of 11 different receivers that had at least one catch for the Cardinals, including junior Kevin Licciardi who also had six receptions.
Leading 14-7, Randolph-Macon (2-0) scored on seven of their final eight possession with the only stop coming on the first career interception by freshman Mason Stillwell with 6:30 remaining in the second quarter.
Through two games, Lowe has now completed 74-of-99 passes for 74.7 percent, 718 yards, six touchdowns and a 151.6 passer rating. He has also been sacked just three times in 99 attempts.
Junior Nico Casares replaced Lowe with with 8:21 remaining in the fourth quarter, marking his first career appearance. He completed one pass for nine yards to senior Jack Minerva on Catholic's next to last drive.
The Cardinals second score came on a 27-yard field goal by senior Fabrizio Reilly with 8:09 left in the third quarter, capping a 15-play, 65-yard drive that used 6:51. It was the eighth field goal of Reilly's career and his second in three attempts this season.
Catholic opens a three-game homestand on Saturday, Sept. 18 when it hosts Endicott in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. It will also mark the Cardinals' first game against a team from the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
