Koshakji Scores Three Points in 4-1 Victory Over Goucher

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University men's soccer junior JP Koshakji had one goal and one assist to highlight a 4-1 victory over Goucher Wednesday at Carlini Field.

The Cardinals (7-5-2, 3-1-1 LC) improved their record to 16-3-1 at Carlini Field, including 7-0-0 in Landmark Conference contests. The also remained unbeaten in eight home games against the Gophers since joining the league in 2007, posting a 7-0-1 record.

Koshakji scored his first goal as a Cardinal, adding an assist to finish with a career-high three points. He totaled his first points since Oct. 26, 2019 when he had two assists in a 6-0 win over Moravian at home.

Koshakji was one of four different goal scorers for Catholic and one of three who netted their first goal of the season. After the Gophers (5-9-2, 1-4-0 LC) took a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute, freshman Lorenzo Carletti scored his first career goal off an assist from Koshakji in the 43rd minute to tie the game at halftime.

Freshman Jacob Rocha scored what proved to be the game-winner with his first career goal only 10 minutes into the second half before freshman Ryan Kelly scored just three minutes later for the Cardinals' third goal of the game.

Both goals were assisted by junior Darius Siahpoosh who increased his team-leading point total to 17 this season.

Koshakji capped the scoring with his first goal in 30 games as a Cardinal to provide the final margin. He became the 13th different player to score a goal for Catholic this season when he gathered a rebound off the cross bar in the 81st minute.

Junior Austin Coron picked up his sixth win of the season with four saves in goal before giving way to freshman James Pickeral, who recorded the first save of his career, over the final nine minutes.

Catholic wraps its regular season home schedule on Saturday when it hosts Susquehanna at Carlini Field for senior day. Prior to 4 p.m. kickoff, the team will honor its 10 seniors, including Koshakji and Siahpoosh.

As a result of Elizabethtown's 1-1 tie with Moravian Wednesday, the Cardinals find themselves in a four-way tie for first-place in the Landmark Conference standings with Drew, Elizabethtown and Susquehanna. Each team boasts identical 3-1-1 conference records.
