Box Score SCRANTON, Pa. - Catholic University men's soccer sophomore Gordie Bernlohr scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season to lead the Cardinals to a 1-1 tie with Scranton Saturday at Weiss Field.
The Cardinals (6-5-2, 2-1-1 LC) are now unbeaten in 15 of their last 16 conference contests dating back to Oct. 6, 2018 with a 13-1-2 record. Catholic also remained unbeaten in its last seven road games against the Royals, posting a mark of 4-0-3 since Oct. 7, 2009.
In four conference games this season, Bernlohr has scored three of the Cardinals' five goals. The team's second-leading goal scorer with six, the team is now 4-0-2 when he scores a goal.
Bernlohr gave Catholic the lead on the game's second shot just four minutes in when he converted a pass from senior Connor Logsdon at 3:55. Logsdon registered his first point of the season on the play with his second career assist and fourth career point.
The Cardinals would maintain their one-goal advantage until the 56th minute when Jake Nubbemeyer netted his third tally of the season on the Royals' second of eight shots in the second half.
After holding a 15-11 edge in shots in regulation, Catholic had the majority of the opportunities in overtime, outshooting Scranton 6-1 over the extra 20 minutes.
However, of their 21 shots in the game, the Cardinals put just 10 on goal, nine of which were saved by Jake Hodlofski.
Junior Austin Coron had four saves in his fourth conference start of the season. He is now 5-3-1 this season, including 2-1-1 in Landmark Conference contests.
Catholic returns home to face Goucher on Wednesday at Carlini Field. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. following the women's game against Gettysburg.
