WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University field hockey team fell at No. 3 Rowan in non-conference play Saturday, 3-1.

Junior midfielder Jess Waite scored an early goal assisted by sophomore Hannah Bateman, putting the Cards up 1-0 at 8:40.

The Profs (3-0) quickly answered just a few minutes later as Krystyna Hovell knocked her in her first goal of the day at 11:19 to tie the game at 1-1. Hovell put two more goals in the second quarter for Rowan to give the team the two-goal victory.

Junior goalie Kim McGroary recorded seven saves for Catholic (1-2).

The Cardinals travel to Stevenson on Tuesday for a 7 p.m., contest at Mustang Stadium.
