BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A goal in each half lifted the Catholic University men's soccer team over the Moravian Greyhounds, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, giving the team its fifth Landmark Conference victory. 

The Cardinals (9-5, 5-1 LC) are winners of their last five matches, a run that includes four-straight shutout wins. The win clinches a spot in the conference postseason tournament with seeding to be determined in next weekend's action. 

Catholic took control of the match early on, outshooting Moravian (6-7-2, 3-3 LC) 10-1 in the first half. Senior Brian Galfond opened the scoring in the 14th minute from a Ben Alexander cross from the wing. Galfond now has four goals to match his four assists, leading the team with 12 points. 

Early on in the second half of play, the Cardinals drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick opportunity. Alexander stepped up to the spot and buried the chance for his team-leading fifth goal of the year. The visitors hung to the 2-0 advantage for the rest of the contest, outshooting Moravian 16-6 in the match. 

Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Long saved three shots on his way to a fourth consecutive clean sheet victory. Catholic's backline delivered again, as Mike Narzikul, Ryan Kennedy, Corbin Brailsford, and Mitch Ford allowed just six shots. 

During the five-game win streak, Catholic has outscored its opponents, 13-1. This is the longest string of wins since head coach Travis Beauchamp's 2013 team rattled off seven-straight victories. 

The Cardinals return to the pitch Tuesday, October 23 for a 7 p.m. match on the road against Gettysburg.
