Box Score WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men’s soccer team hosted Stevenson University to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon at St. Alban’s School in Northwest D.C.
The Cardinals outshot the Mustangs 29-5 throughout the non-conference match, but neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Catholic established themselves as the dominant force on the pitch with a 21-4 shooting advantage during regulation. The Cardinals were awarded 14 corner kick opportunities throughout the 110 minutes while taking 12 shots with their heads.
Junior standout, Brian Galfond took seven shots while freshman Nelson Zimmerman and senior Heston Priestley each took five.
The Catholic defense held Stevenson to just four shots in regulation and one more in overtime. Sophomores Mike Narzikul and Ryan Kennedy along with junior Corbin Brailsford and freshman Nick Battaglia battled the entire match to shut out the Mustangs. Graduate student Zachery Tashjy made one save and recorded his second draw of the year.
Up next, the Cardinals travel to Ashland, Va., to take on the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, September 20.
