Box Score Frostburg, Md. - Now sitting 2-0 in the 2016 season, The Catholic University of America men's soccer team topped Alfred State, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Catholic offense controlled the game, outshooting Alfred 27-7, putting 13 shots on target. On defense, senior Steven Lukas started in goal for the Cards, playing the full 90-minutes and recording his second career shutout.
The Cardinals got on the scoreboard less than five minutes into the first half when freshman Joseph Nguyen recorded his first career goal at the 4:22-minute mark. Junior Jake Nabbie notched the Catholic insurance goal with an unassisted shot in the 40th minute of play.
Deep into the second half, with just under three minutes to play, freshman Nick Krake took a shot to record his first career goal and lift the Cards to the 3-0 victory.
Junior Patrick Mogan led Catholic's offensive efforts with six shots while classmate Heston Priestley and freshman Bradley Pierro each took five.
The Cardinals will continue their 2016-17 season on the road with a midweek match-up at Mary Washington on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 4 p.m.
