Box Score WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's soccer team finished out its 2016 season falling 1-0 to the Landmark Conference No. 2 seed, the University of Scranton.
The Cardinals and Royals played an evenly possessed game with Catholic outshooting Scranton 11-10. The Cards earned four corner kick opportunities while the Royals were awarded five.
Scranton's goal game late in the first half (35:29) off their third corner kick of the contest. Royal's Kieran Bracken inbounded the ball to the head of Michael Donnelly. Donnelly flicked the ball to James Caufield who used his head to push the ball into the net.
The Cards battled back with eight shots in the second half but were unable to capitalize.
Senior Sean Adams took three shots, putting each on target during the 90-minutes contest. Sophomores Tyler Martin and Brian Galfond each took two shot.
Seniors Steven Lukas and Zachery Tashjy split time in the net for Catholic. Lukas tallied five first half saves while Tashjy recorded one in the second half.
Prior to the game the Cardinals recognized Adams, Lukas and Tashjy along with fellow seniors Miguel Hernandez and Ben Pesante for their years of dedication to the Catholic men's soccer program.
