Box Score WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's soccer team fell 3-1 to the Washington College Shoremen in the nation's capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The Shoremen got off to a quick start with a goal in the 16th minute. From 25 yards out on the left wing, freshman Griffin Bull booted the ball that bent inside the left post. Washington College maintained the 1-0 lead through the half.
Catholic started the second half looking for a comeback and equalizing in the 59th minute when freshman Bradley Pierro scored his first goals as a Cardinal. He dribbled the ball down the left side of the field, through three defenders and fire a shot into the back of the net.
With 20 minutes remaining in the contest, the Shoremen took the lead with a goal from senior Brian Wilkinson. Just seven minutes later they received a corner kick and secured the victory with a score from junior Michael Holowesko.
Catholic senior goalkeeper Steven Lukas made a career-high nine saves during the match while Sean Adams guided the Cardinal's offensive effort taking four shots.
The Cardinals return to conference play on Saturday, Oct. 22., traveling to Madison, N.J., to face the Rangers of Drew University at 3:30 pm.
