Box Score WASHINGTON - With a goal in double overtime, junior Patrick Mogan of The Catholic University of America guided the men's soccer team to a 1-0 Columbus Day victory over Salisbury University.
The Cardinals and Seagulls each took 20 shots during the 105-minute contest, the most imperative being Mogan's. He took his only shot of the game during the second overtime period, blasting the ball into the high left corner of the net for an unassisted golden goal and his second gamewinner of the season.
Defensively, Catholic senior Steven Lukas made a career-high eight saves. Lukas earned his second win and shutout of the year as the Cardinals move to 6-7-0 in 2016.
Junior Nick Joesten took four of Catholic's 20 shots at the Cardinal Stadium, while senior Sean Adams and freshman Bradley Pierro each took three.
The Cardinals will continue non-conference play, traveling to Stevenson, Md., on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Kick off against the Stevenson University Mustangs is set for 7 p.m.
