Box Score WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's soccer team outplayed Landmark Conference opponent Juniata College to a 3-0 victory at Cardinals Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals are now 5-5 in the 2016 season, 1-1 in the Landmark, while the Eagles drop to 3-8 for the year and 1-1 in the conference.
The Catholic offense controlled the majority of the game taking 28 shots while Juniata took just six. Senior Sean Adams fought for a score, taking eight shots throughout the match while sophomore Brian Galfond took five.
After 17 minutes of play, Catholic got on the scoreboard. Sophomore Corbin Brailsford took the ball down the left side of the field and saw classmate Aaron Boyle ready at the top of the 6-yard box. Brailsford lifted a pass high to Boyle who headed the ball to the back of the net for his first career goal.
The Cards maintained their one-goal advantage through the half and Adams capitalized on an opportunity in the 80th minutes. Unassisted, Adams took the ball down the center of the field into the 18-yard box and ripped a shot between the post, giving Catholic a 2-0 lead.
Just three minutes later, Adams inbounded his fifth corner kick of the contest. Junior Patrick Mogan found the high ball and used his head to send it into the goal, for Catholic's third and final goal the afternoon.
Senior goalkeeper Zachery Tashjy recorded his third shutout of the year, making three saves for the Cardinals.
Catholic will continue Landmark Conference play on the road, Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Towson, Md., facing Goucher College at 7 p.m.
