Box Score WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America will return to the nation's capital victorious after their 1-0 win over Washington and Lee University on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals advance to a 2-3 overall record in 2015 while the Generals drop to 2-2-1 in the season.
The Cards and Generals battled scoreless though the 71st minute of the match when CUA sophomore Heston Priestley saw his opportunity to put a loose ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Washington and Lee offense made multiple efforts throughout the match, outshooting Catholic 14-8 and being awarded seven corner kick opportunities. Senior Tyler Zimmerman notched three shots for the Cardinals and Patrick Mogan took two.
Cardinal junior goalkeeper Zachery Tashjy stopped all five of the Generals shots on goal to earn his second career shutout.
The Cardinals return home Tuesday, September 15, to take on the Ursinus College Bears at 4 p.m. at CUA Soccer Field.
