Box Score WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America field hockey came out on top at the end of their home opener with a 2-1 win over Rowan on Saturday, September 13 at Cardinal Stadium to earn their fourth win of the season.
Tarah Portland registered her fourth goal of the season when she chipped in a goal on a stroke initiated from Colleen Harwood from the top of the circle at the 34th minute. Ellen Thorburn gave the Cardinals a one-goal advantage when she finished up a pass Maura Campbell at the 57-minute mark.
In her 70 minutes in goal, Analisa Scott clinched her fourth win with five saves.
By the numbers, Rowan outshot the Cardinals 12-9 and took 8 corners to CUA's seven, however it was not enough to secure a win.
Catholic hits the road for a three-game road trip, beginning with Mary Washington on Wednesday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m., Misericordia on Saturday, September 20 at 2 p.m. and Landmark Conference newcomer Elizabethtown on Saturday, September 27 at 1 p.m.
