Box Score WASHINGTON – After head coach Ross Natoli honored the 2014 senior class, the Catholic University of America baseball team defeated the Mariners of Merchant Marine 8-2, taking a 2-1-weekend advantage.
With their last home Landmark Conference win, CUA advances to 18-15 overall, 8-6 in the conference and 9-4 at Robert J. Talbot Field.
Unlike Friday's beginnings, Merchant Marine scored in the opening inning for a 1-0 lead.
Over the next three innings, CUA took a 3-0 lead on one inning in the bottom of the third and two runs on the bottom of the fourth.
USMMA snapped its run less period with a single run in the top of the fifth.
The Cards went on to score five additional runs to secure the 8-2 win.
CUA will host two non-conference games beginning with Saint Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday, April 23, followed by the regular-season closeout against Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday, April 30.
Catholic will visit three opponents: Stevenson on Tuesday, April 22, Drew on Friday, April 25 and Susquehanna on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27.
