Box Score Madison, N.J. – After 110 minutes of play, The Catholic University of America men's soccer team held the Drew University Rangers to a scoreless tie in a Landmark Conference match on Saturday.
With the draw, the Cardinals are now 6-5-2 overall and 3-1-1 in Landmark play, while the Rangers move to 6-3-5 on the season (2-1-1 conference).
In the first 45 minutes of action, only five shots were taken between both teams, with Drew outshooting Catholic 3-2. CUA's Tyler Zimmerman and Jack Traxler each took a shot on goal, but the game remained scoreless heading into halftime.
After the intermission, Drew took a shot on goal in the 48th minute of play. Which Cardinal goalkeeper Torsten Meuschke dove to make an impressive save, keeping the Cardinals from a 1-0 deficit. The Cards tried to gain momentum making seven shot attempts throughout the remainder of the half.
Ranger goalkeeper Michael Reyes made four saves ending the regulation clock at a 0-0 draw.
During overtime action, Catholic took four total shots to Drew's one. The Cardinals saw a glimpse of hope when Nico Bartolomeo took an open kick at the net. The ball missed the cage and bounced off the post with nearly four minutes remaining, for a score of 0-0.
The Cardinals outshot the Rangers overall 13-9. Zimmerman took five of the 13 Cardinal shots, and all where on goal. Bartolomeo and Connor Keale each had two shots. Meuschke made three saves.
The CUA men's soccer team returns home on Wednesday, October 15 for a match against Haverford College at 4:00 p.m. at CUA Soccer Field in Washington D.C.
