CUA Men's Soccer Concludes Saturday Action With a Tie

WASHINGTON  - The Catholic University men's soccer tallied the first tie of the season with an 1-1 decision on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Lexington, Va., with a non-conference contest against Washington & Lee.

Both teams were held scoreless until the 41:37 mark of the first half when  Patrick Barry scored to put the Generals up 1-0.

The Cardinals netted the game equalizer behind a goal from Nico Bartolomeo (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) off of a Joe Taylor (Eldersburg, Md./Loyola Blakefield) assist.

Catholic battled W&L into two overtimes, but neither squad was able to register another goal.

Catholic held a 17-to-13 advantage on shots for the game, as well as an 8-to-7 edge in corner kicks. Thorsten Meuschke (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) picked up five saves during 110 minutes of action.

The Cardinals return to action against Mary Washington on Wednesday, Sep. 11 for the first off a three-game home stand. The contest is scheduled to kickoff at 4:00 p.m.
