Box Score WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's soccer team spoiled
Susquehanna's Senior Day by picking up a 2-1 victory over the
Crusaders on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Selinsgrove, Pa.
Catholic moves to 8-3-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in the Landmark,
while Susquehanna falls to 7-4-1, 2-2-0.
Hunter Horvath (Southlake, Texas/Southlake Carroll)
headed home a cross from Kevin
Romano (Freehold, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) just
15:28 into the game to put the Cardinals up early.
Horvath's second goal of the season was the only tally of
the first half, as Catholic took its 1-0 lead into halftime.
Early in the second stanza, Romano scored off
of an assist by Nico Bartolomeo (Pewaukee, Wisc./Pewaukee) in
the 53rd minute. The 2-0 lead did not last long, as 28 seconds
later Patrick Fry ripped a shot from near midfield that got past Torsten Meuschke (Gaithersburg, Md./Magruder) to cut
the Catholic lead to 2-1.
The Cardinals were able to hold onto their lead for the
remainder of the game, picking up their second Landmark win.
Catholic improves to 2-0-1 in the conference and currently holds
the top spot in the standings.
Meuschke picked up five saves in the game and earned
his fourth win of the season. For the game, Susquehanna held an
advantage in both shots, 14-to-11, as well as corner kicks,
6-to-4.
The Cardinals return to action this Wednesday, Oct. 16 when they
host Maine – Fort Kent in a non-conference contest. Kickoff
is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
