After joining the Catholic Athletics staff in the fall of 2022, Emily Condello was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in July of 2024.
As the Head Athletic Trainer, Condello's roles will include supervision of the athletic training staff, scheduling and coordination of medical care coverage and budget oversight. She will also serve as the campus liaison for student-athlete healthcare, assist with development and education of Emergency Action Plans, concussion and mental health protocols, and the education of those protocols to the AT staff and coaches.
Condello earned her bachelor of science degree in athletic training and exercise science from Ithaca College in May of 2020. In May of 2022, she completed her master of science degree in organizational leadership from Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa.
She garnered two years of athletic training experience during her time as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Mercyhurst. In the role, Condello provided coverage for the university’s NCAA DII women’s basketball, field hockey and softball teams, as well as the DI women’s ice hockey program and the ice hockey club program.
While at Mercyhurst, Condello conducted and organized pre-participation physicals for over 700 athletes. She also corresponded with team physicians regarding rehabilitation and return to play protocols, and she conducted return to play rehabilitation for post-operation ACL, shoulder labral, and ankle debridement surgeries. Condello also traveled with teams to provide athlete training coverage.
Condello also assumed a role with the Mercyhurst University COVID-19 Response Team. In this role, she was responsible for administering Antigen and PCR COVID-19 testing to students, as well as conducting campus contact tracing.
During over three years as an athletic training student at Ithaca, Condello gained clinical experience and documented injuries, treatment and rehabilitation through Sportswear systems. She worked with the football team for two seasons as well as women’s basketball, women’s soccer and softball while completing clinical hours and health center hours.
While working toward her degree at Ithaca, Condello spent a semester working with DI Cornell’s women’s ice hockey team.
