Tierney joined the Catholic men's soccer staff in the fall of 2025. It is his first season coaching at the collegiate level.
Most recently, Tierney severed as a varsity assistant coach at Mount Vernon High School in the 2024 season. He also was a volunteer volunteer assistant coach for Elizabethtown Area High School in 2018.
Tierney graduated from Lycoming College in 2018 and was a four-year member of the men's soccer program. He was apart of the winningest class in the program's history, going 61-14-9 in his four years on the team. During his time at Lycoming, Tierney was a member of two MAC Championship teams in 2015 and 2017. His team's made the NCAA tournament two times, reaching the Sweet 16 in 2015 and the Second Round in 2017. He was a team captain in his senior season and was a two-time MAC All-Sportsmanship selection. Lycoming in 2017 reached as high as No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and the team finished ninth in the poll that season. He played in 79 matches, making 57 starts, and scored one goal with three assists in his career.
Tierney grauduated with a BA in Business Administration and a minor in Psychology. Â
