AJ Martin Aiken joined the Catholic University softball coaching staff in September 2023 after a successful five-year playing career.
Aiken grew up in the Northern Virginia area, graduating from Hayfield Secondary where she was a four-year varsity starter.
She went on to play four seasons of Division II softball at the University of Charleston (W.Va.) where she was a utility player that saw action in more than 120 games. Aiken went on to play her final year of collegiate softball at Montreat (NAIA) as the starting shortstop.
At Charleston, Aiken hit .321 in 127 games across her four years, racking up 100 hits and scoring 67 runs. Aiken played her final season at Montreat, playing in 43 games and hitting .389. She ranked second in her conference in on-base percentage and inside the top-10 in batting average.
Aiken saw time at a plethora of spots defensively, playing the middle infield, catching, and seeing action in the outfield.
