Desire Johnson

Johnson joins Nate Farlow's for his first season ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, bringing years of youth tennis coaching experience.

He has over four years of experience as a junior tennis coach at the Washington Tennis and Education Foundation. Beginning in June of 2019, Johnson has provided training to children aged 4-17 to assist them in improving their on-court skills. His responsibilities include coordinating individual and group lessons, developing skill-based training programs and evaluating participants' performance. He also held a position as a volunteer assistant coach for 10 months at the same organization.

Johnson also works within another facet of the sport as an operation associate with the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. In this role, he supports daily operation and smooth running of the ATP and WTA tour event which hosts over 7,000 attendees. He does so by assisting with the upkeep of athlete locker rooms, responding to athlete needs and requests and maintaining the physical appearance of the playing surfaces and surrounding visible court space. Johnson has held this position since August of 2017.

He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Johnson C. Smith University in May 2021. He then pursued his Masters of Science in Recreation, Parks and Sport Management, receiving his degree from Frostburg State University in May of 2023.
