Carter enters his second season working with the cross country and track & field at Catholic in 2022-23. After working as the team's graduate assistant coach in 2021-22, he was promoted to assistant coach.

"Coach Carter made an immediate positive impact at Catholic last year with the incredible energy, thoughtfulness, passion and drive he brought to the team daily," says head coach Steve Rahn about Carter. "His work behind the scenes was a driving force to our success and I look forward to seeing him continue to grow and reach new heights."

Prior to Catholic, Carter spent two seasons at Hanover College in Indiana where he worked primarily with horizontal jumps and short sprints and developed and executed practice plans for the long jump and triple jump. During the 2019-20 indoor season, he oversaw the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) champion in the men's long jump and women's triple jump as well as a USTFCCCA All-American in he penatathlon. The Panthers also won the 2020 HCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship on the women's side.

In 2020-21, Hanover finished third at the HCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in both men's and women's. Reece Hunter finished second in the 400-meter dash for the men while Zaleeya Martin finished first in both the 100 and 200 meters.

Carter is a 2019 graduate of Denison University where he earned a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in Black Studies as a two-sport athlete in track & field and football. He was a seven-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) First Team selection, earning six in the triple jump where he won four NCAC championships, was a two-time national qualifier and All-American in 2016 and earned six USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honors. He was also a member of the Big Red's 2019 NCAC football championship and first NCAA tournament appearance since 1985.

Following his career, Carter was a recipient of Denison's Distinguished Leadership Award which recognizes graduating seniors who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and service to the University through their involvement in student organizations, in co-curricular activities, on Denison’s staff, and as athletes and scholars.

A native of New Albany, Ohio, Carter is certified by the USTFCCCA in Track & Field Technical Coaching and has worked with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
