KANSAS CITY, Mo.  –  The Catholic men's soccer team climbed seven spots in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, coming in at number nine in this week's poll, it was announced today. It is the highest the Cardinals have ever been ranked in the USC Top 25 poll, surpassing the previous highest rank when the program reached as high as 10th in 2019. 

The Cardinals have continued their strong start to the season over the past week after picking up a pair of clean sheet victories by scores of 2-0 and 1-0 against Neumann and Stockton. Andres Lopez and Donik Elshani found the back of the net against Neumann for Catholic while Michael Brown provided the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute versus Stockton to help the team improve to 6-0 on the season. 

It has been a balanced attack for Catholic so far this season as it has had 10 different goal scorers with six players who have scored multiple goals. The Cardinals are currently 23rd in the country in goal differential at plus 14 which is also the best in the Landmark. Defensively, Catholic has been locked in as well, only allowing two goals on the season this far which is tied for the fewest allowed in the Landmark so far this season. The Cardinals .333 goals against average also ranks in the top 10 in the country. Owen Allegro is the reigning Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week after picking up a pair of clean sheets last week which were his second and third of the season.

The Cardinals return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 23 for a road contest against Stevenson. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
