GALLOWAY, N.J.  –  The 16th-ranked Catholic men's soccer team hit the road to take on Stockton on Saturday afternoon, trying to remain unbeaten in the early stages of the season. After a scoreless first half, the Cardinals once again found the back of the net to take the lead in the second half of the game and the backline held up to secure a 1-0 victory over the Ospreys. 

The first half provided limited opportunities for both teams as the Cardinals held a slight 3-2 shot advantage but neither team put a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes. Graham Leary had one of the best chances to score in the half for the Cardinals but his shot off a corner came ringing off the crossbar to keep things equal. Carson Shamoo and Donik Elshani also got shots off for Catholic in the first half.

Elshani put the first shot on target of the contest in the 56th minute but Cole Butler made the save for Stockton. The next shot of the game would finally break the scoreless tie as Azaria Tewodros won the ball high up the field and delivered a cross in the direction of Michael Brown, who buried his opportunity to give Catholic a 1-0 lead.

Owen Allegro went on to make two critical saves over the final minutes of the match to keep the lead intact and close out a second consecutive clean sheet for the Cardinals. The win improved Catholic's record to 6-0 on the season and extended the program's streak to 34 consecutive regular season games without a defeat.

Allegro played the full 90 minutes in the win alongside Leary, Ellington Andrews, and Corey Magro. The Cardinals finished off their fourth shutout of the season in the victory.

Brown tapped in his second goal of the season, making him the sixth Catholic player to score multiple goals this season. Tewodros supplied his second assist to tie him for the team lead and it was the sixth of his career.

The Cardinals remain on the road in their next matchup when they take on Stevenson on Wednesday, September 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 pm against the Mustangs.
