Eight Major Awards Handed Out, More Than 140 Seniors Honored at Catholic Athletics Senior Celebration

| By:
WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Last month, the annual Catholic University Athletics Senior Celebration was held in the Edward J. Pryzbula Student Center. More than 140 student-athletes were in attendance to commemorate the accomplishments of the athletic department over the past four years. Eight individuals were honored as the recipients of major awards, placing them among the most elite student-athletes in the history of the athletic department.

The major awards handed out include the Jone and Martin Dowd Role Model Awards, the Men's and Women's Outstanding Senior, the Harris and Donley Cups and the Departmental Dedication Awards.

The first award presented was our newest award, the Departmental Dedication Award. This award was established by the Senior Celebration Committee to honor student-athletes who showcase an exemplary level of dedication, leadership, and service to the athletic department through assistance with facilities and operations, athletic communications, equipment room services, and various other tasks.

The winners of the Departmental Dedication Award were Dom Navarro and Leyton Ramos-Platt

A constant presence at sporting events during his time as a student, Dom Navarro was one of the most versatile student workers for the department and his jovial attitude always helped improve the game day working environment. "Dom was one of the most reliable student workers that we have had during my time here," said Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations Adam Nelson. "He always did whatever was asked of him across all the different sports that we have." Whether it was ball-chasing, floor-mopping, running the clock or helping with breakdown, he always showed up enthusiastic to work and support the Catholic programs. He was a key part of helping all home events run smoothly.

Leyton Ramos-Platt could have been seen at virtually every sporting event on the sidelines during the 2025-26 athletics season. He spent the entire year capturing the essence of Catholic Athletics and also some of the biggest moments for the department throughout the year. Leyton's work was constantly being shown on the Catholic social media channels, mostly throughout highlight videos and player spotlight interviews. "Leyton was exactly what the communications office needed this year and his work provided a huge boost to the multimedia efforts of the department," said Director of Athletic Broadcasting and Communications Joey Madore. "He was always delivering his content in a timely manner and was one of the most reliable students I have ever been able to work with." Leyton will be earning his master's degree in sports storytelling from Wake Forest beginning next fall.
